Benefits of Membership:
When women get together,
amazing things can happen. And that's just what the American
Business Women's Association's membership options are all about -
women joining forces to further themselves both professionally and
personally to amazing proportions. Not only do our members get the
inside track on the issues facing their local communities, but they
also are plugged into the trends and events that drive today's
national businesses. Succeeding today is all about what you know,
who you know and who knows you. And if you want to be successful,
ABWA's chapters and networks give you the upper hand.
Development
Knowledge is power. And businesswomen need a
resource they can turn to for information about a wide variety of
topics. They also need to know how to use that information to
benefit themselves or their employers. To this end, ABWA members
participate in the following professional development opportunities:
- Leadership development programs
- ABWA-KU MBA Essentials
- ABWA-KU Management Certificate Series
- In-depth business skills training
- Continuing education certificate programs
- Tuition reimbursement for approved accredited classes
Making contact with
business-savvy professionals also puts women ahead. But networking
is an art that many people have not perfected. That's why ABWA has
made teaching its members this career-critical skill part of its
mission. Plus, when you join an ABWA chapter or network, you
automatically become a member of a ready-made professional network
with unlimited potential for expanding your own network of contacts.
By its very nature,
recognition is loaded with positive reinforcement. It is an
essential component of effective development. Thus individual
members are recognized for their efforts. Each year, in addition to
national awards and recognition, local chapters and networks honor
members who make significant accomplishments in education,
leadership, and professional and civic activities.
Women in Business.

Women in Business,
the Association's award-winning bimonthly national magazine,
features informative articles covering a range of topics that are of
interest to businesswomen and entrepreneurs. Previous articles have
dealt with subjects such as career reinvention, Web site
development, human resources management and tax relief for women
business owners. Past topics also include how to motivate your
employees, things to take into consideration when starting a
business, and hints on how to balance a career with motherhood.
Women in Business is a primary source of ABWA member
information, providing updates on Association events and members'
activities and accomplishments. The magazine also includes excerpts
from today's powerful business books, which can be used to earn
contact hours in the ABWA professional development program. Magazine
subscription is free for ABWA members (annual dues include a
one-year subscription); non-member subscriptions are $20 a year ($24
foreign plus taxes).
Members also receive benefits
from our national corporate sponsors, who support ABWA in its
efforts to further the careers of women. These companies offer
discounts on everything from office supplies and car rentals to
travel expenses.
